About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Xiamen

Itinerary: Taiwan - Xiamen - Taiwan - Australia (within 24 hours)

Hi, my itinerary consists of a return to Taiwan flight, but then a subsequent flight onwards to Australia within 24 hours of arriving in Taiwan. Is this eligible for the 144 hour visa free transit?

Or is it only if you exit Xiamen directly to a different country from the one you came from.

Thanks.

You are not allowed to take your intended itinerary and to remain eligible for any kind of visa free transit. The first and the simplest rule of visa free transit states: Only the immediate points before and after a Chinese destination matter and they have to be in different countries/territories. As you can see, your immediate points are in one territory - Taiwan.

So, as you have mentioned by yourself in the end of your post, to be eligible you will have to exit Xiamen directly to a different country/territory from the one you came from.
