About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

A transit in shanghai

Hi buddy, my itinerary is Rome-Shanghai and return. I’ll stay in China for two weeks. I only got one entry but I want to travel Bangkok during the stay. Is it possible to travel to Bangkok from Shanghai, and return to Shanghai for my flight back to Rome? Is it possible to stay in the airport less than 24 hrs and don’t cross the border control? Thanks in advance!

You are perfectly eligible for 24 hour visa free transit for your return back from Bangkok via Shanghai to Rome because you will stay less than 24 hours in Shanghai and your itinerary is eligible.

You will not be able to avoid to cross the border control upon your arrival from Bangkok to Shanghai because it is obvious that your tickets Rome - Shanghai and return and Shanghai - Bangkok and return are unrelated. In other words, you will have to collect your luggage upon arrival in Shanghai and perform a recheck for your flight to Rome. Anyway, this is perfectly fine when you travel on 24 hour visa free transit.

You should print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Bangkok that you will travel to Rome via Shanghai using 24 hour visa free transit. Upon your arrival in Shanghai, you will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to collect your luggage and to perform a recheck.

Basically, this is it.
