About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

L VISA or TRANSIT VISA

Hi,
I am confused as to what visa I require. My Itinerary is UK TO CHINA and then CHINA TO DUBAI then DUBAI TO UK. I have 3 tickets. One from UK to China, One from China to Dubai and One from Dubai to UK. The issue is my flight from UK to China has a 60 minutes layover in Dubai even though my ticket is for UK to China. Am I still eligible for the visa free 72 hours or do I need to apply for the L visa?

Unfortunately, you are not eligible for any kind of visa free transit scheme. As you know, the visa free transit rule says: Only the immediate points before and after a Chinese destination matter... As you can see, both of your immediate points are - Dubai, UAE.

If you will retain this itinerary, you will have to obtain a Chinese tourist (L) visa in advance. As a UK citizen, you can ask for a 2 year long term, multiple entry Chinese tourist (L) visa, by declaring that you intend to visit China more often during the next two years.
