status of temporary residence visa after quitting employment

Hi,
I quit my job, how does this effect my residence visa which lasts another 6 months ? Also can I leave China (HK) and return in a months time ?

Charles, if your employer informs your resignation to the local immigration authority, you may need to cancel your residence permit as well.
