About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hours visa for Canadian infant parents (Canadian PR holders)

We are family of 4 (parents and 2 children)- one infant is Canadian citizen and we 3 are Canadian PR holders. We have 18 hours stopover at Kunming and our airline (China Eastern) has provided hotel which is outside of airport. Do we get 72 hours visa to stay at hotel? Thank you.

It's your nationality that's important, not your residency.

If Kunming is your only stop within mainland China, you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa. To be allowed to exit the airport and to enjoy your accommodation outside the airport, you will have to apply for a temporary entry permit upon your landing in Kunming at 24 hour visa free transit counter. You should also enclose the confirmation of your accommodation provided by an airline and your chances to be granted a permit are very good. Anyway, you should be aware that the issuing of a permit always depends on discretion of immigration authorities on a day of your arrival.
