About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

My Husband and Myself are we eligible for 144hr Visa free transit

Flying from Adelaide to Shanghai travelling 5 days
Shanghai to Xian
Xian to Shanghai
Picking up cruise on 5 day to Hong Kong.

You must get a visa. Two stops in China automatically limits you to 24 hours transit without visa.
