About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Shanghai 144hr visa free transit

Hi,

My route will be Toronto>Argentina>Singapore>Shanghai>Toronto
I’m thinking of arriving Shanghai from Singapore on Jan 28 and leave on Feb 2 to Toronto. Can I buy the plane tickets from singapore to shanghai(direct) and shanghai to Toronto (direct) or I have to buy ticket with layover at shanghai and then apply for the 144 hr transit and change my plane tickets after? And if I ever get denied at the airport, do I get a visa refusal stamp?

Aidan, you are definitely allowed to book two separate tickets as well as a single one with a layover in Shanghai. This detail was never disputable, since the very beginning of visa free transit policy in China. Also, your itinerary:

Singapore - Shanghai - Toronto

Is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. You should just take care that you don't have any additional landing of any kind within mainland China.

Also, you are advised to print out your flight tickets and to have your printouts with you.
