About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel to Thailand from USA

Hi... I am Costa Rican, and I have a green card. My husband (American Citizen) and I are traveling to Thailand this December. Our flight will stop in Beijing, China (PEK-Capital Intl.) for 2 hours and 25min (5:45pm to 8:10pm), then we will have another stop in Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR (HKG-Hong Kong Intl.) for 2 hours and 25min (11:35pm - 2am). and hopefully in BKK by 4:10am.
On our way back (January), we will have to go to Beijing, China (PEK-Capital Intl.) for 6 hours (7:20am -1:55pm)

Do I or my husband need a transit visa or an specific visa?

Thank you

Both of you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit in China and you don't need any kind of visa. Please, keep in mind that you as Costa Rican citizen are required to have a Thai visa obtained in advance.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in US that you will fly to Hong Kong/Thailand via Beijing using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short check. you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Beijing, you will clear some formalities and if you are traveling on a separate (through) ticket, you will just remain within the transit zone of Beijing airport waiting for your onward flight to Hong Kong. Please, have in mind to ask at check-in in US whether your luggage is tagged all the way to Hong Kong or Thailand, so that you know if you will have to or not collect your luggage in Beijing. I'm telling you this because your layover in Beijing is relatively short, so that you know what will you do upon arrival there.
