China visa application

Hi I am an English teacher currently teaching in Shanghai China. I would like to find out what kind of visa my fiancé should apply in order to visit for a long duration of time. I will cover the costs of the trip.I will be back in South Africa for week in Decemeber therefore my time is limited . I would like him to travel back with me to China.To my knowledge he requires an invitation letter. I am not sure what else will it be possible to apply for the visa online? I did find an application at the beginning of this page.
