About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Need China VISA ?

We are US Citizens, travelling from US to India, enroute China. Stopover in Beijing is for less than 72 hours and we plan to visit great wall of china that time and roam around Beijing before taking our onward flight to India. Do we need China Visa ?

No, you don't need any kind of visa because you are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area. Of course, I assume that your stop will be longer than 24 hours and that Beijing will be your only stop within mainland China.

If my assumptions are correct, you are eligible to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit and you can visit the whole area of Beijing City, Tianjin City and the entire Hebei province. Quite a large area. Enjoy your travel.

By the way, 72 hour visa free transit has been replaced in Beijing by 144 hour visa free transit a couple of years ago.
