Is my family eligible for 144 hour visa exemption?

My family and I will be travelling from Toronto to Taipei for a week (direct flight) and then from Taipei to Shanghai (direct flight) Dec 12-18th (arriving night of 12th and departing night of 18th) and then flying back to Taipei for another week before returning to Toronto. We are all travelling with Canadian passports. Do we qualify for the 144 hour visa exemption?
