Visa on arrival for Shenzhen day trip +single entry

Hello I have a single entry research visa F. I am in Hong Kong now and would like to go to Shenzhen for a day and return to HK before I make my 21 day stay in mainland. Would my VOA affect my visa?

Angela, your VOA won't affect your visa, but when you enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong, you need to tell the immigration officer that you don't plan to use the regular visa, but just want to apply for a Shenzhen VOA in case that your visa is used mistakenly.
