About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

I’ll traveling from SFO to SYD next year on QANTAS/American Airlines.

Dear Friends,

I’ll really appreciate your help. On my way back I’ll be flying QANTAS from SYD to PEK (on a separated ticket) and from PEK to SFO after few days there on an American Airlines/QANTAS flight.
I did call QF and AA and they don’t know anything about the Visa Free Transit and I’m amazed at this because the number of Australian citizens traveling all over the world...
I do hold an American passport and hope I’m eligible for the visa free. What do you think?
H.

I think that calling an airlines customer service is total waste of time as usual. Please, just don't do that because they are more than capable of complicating usually very clear situations.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for visa free transit if Beijing is your only stop within mainland China. In other words and having in mind your intention to stay in Beijing for a few days, you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit without any doubt. Also, your separate tickets are perfectly eligible.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Sydney that you will travel to US via Beijing using 144 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane. Upon your arrival in Beijing, you will approach 144 hour visa free transit counter where you will fill out the blue form and after a short time, you will get a sticker in your passport and be allowed to exit the airport.
