About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

New York-Hong Kong- Shanghai-Taipei

Hello, I am flying from JFK to Shanghai on Cathay Pacific, connecting in HK.
And after 3 days leaving Shanghai to Taipei.
Is this trip ok to get the 144 hours visa?
I have an italian passport.
