How to Manage Travelling Overseas whilst on X Visa

If X-class visa's are only single entry, how does one obtain permission to travel overseas during the study visa? Can this be specially arranged at the entry and exit administrations whilst in China?

After you enter with the X1 visa, you can apply for a temporary residence permit within 30 days at the entry and exit administration so that you will obtain permission to travel overseas during your study.

If you hold an X2 visa, you can't do so.
