About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Multiple transit

Hi, I plan to fly from Germany to Qingdao, and stay a few days, then fly from Qingdao to Vietnum and stay a few days, then fly from Vietnum to Guangzhou or Shenzhen and stay a few days, then fly out from Guangzhou or Shenzhen to Europe. Does it work?

Do I need to stay certain time outside of China before I can enter China again by the visa free transit policy? Thank you,

Tony, it works, but I will point out to some possible problems:

1. Although there is a direct, nonstop flight from Germany to Qingdao by Lufthansa and this is fine, Qingdao lacks direct flight connections to Vietnam. In other words, you will have to insert an additional stop between Qingdao and Vietnam, but this stop has to be outside mainland China. It can be Hong Kong as a logical choice. In any case, you should not have any additional landing within mainland China of any kind beside Qingdao. Like this, you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Qingdao.

2. You can arrive to both Shenzhen or Guangzhou from Vietnam and you can also choose any one of both airports to depart back to Europe. They are both fine because they are located within Guangdong that is a single transit area. Anyway, again, you are not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China of any kind, beside those two airports in Guangdong province.

No, there is no a requirement that you have to stay for some specified period outside China to be able to use visa free transit option again. In reality, there is not limit on how often will you use this option and how many days will you stay outside China to be allowed to use it again, In reality, you can use this option as much as you want, practically on a weekly basis or even more often.

Yes, that is definitely correct. Anyway, Tony, please have in mind that you will have to fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou to be allowed to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province. Also, you are allowed to choose whether you will depart to Europe from both Guangzhou or Shenzhen, but you will have to decide which one airport you will choose before your departure from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and you will have to have a ticket fro that flight during your check-in in Hong Kong.

One more detail, your flight from Guangzhou/Shenzhen to Europe or any other third country has to be nonstop, i.e. without any additional landing within mainland China.
