About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for the 144 hour free transit China Visa?

Hi! We will be traveling to Beijing from the USA (citizen of USA) for 4 days to attend a science competition at Tsinghua University and then return back to USA via planes.
Do we qualify for 144 hour visa or do we need to apply in advance? Thanks!

If your itinerary is:

US - Beijing - US

And there is no third country, you are not eligible for any kind of visa free transit scheme and you will have to apply for a Chinese visa in advance. Of course, if you could only introduce a third country within your itinerary like:

US - Canada - Beijing - US

This would be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. Think about this option with a third country.
