Your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa. Anyway, to be 100% certain, you should calculate your entire transit time from your first scheduled landing, in your case in Kunming, until your last scheduled departure, in your case from Wuhan. If that time is less than 24 hours long, you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit:
1) You will not get any kind of visa because you will travel without a visa on 24 hour visa free transit. You will declare at check-in in India that you will travel to Sydney via China using 24 hour visa free transit. Also, during your check-in, you will ask for your luggage, although if you are traveling on a single (through) ticket, it is highly probable that your luggage will be tagged all the way to Sydney.
2) As already mentioned, your luggage will be probably tagged all the way to Sydney. You will apply, upon your landing in Kunming, for a temporary entry permit at 24 hour visa free transit counter. It will be definitely granted to you to allow you to continue your journey. With this permit that is free of charge, you will be able to use your next flight.
3) There will be no difficulties because you will be granted a temporary entry permit in Kunming that will allow you to travel on a domestic flight
You should not be worried at all if your entire transit time is less than 24 hours as mentioned above. Print out your flight tickets, have the printouts with you and just be relaxed. You are fine.
