About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

I am flying from US to Shanghai, staying for 1 night.

Flying to Thailand for 6 days and then back to Shanghai, staying in the airport back to the US. Does this apply? Or do we need a visa.

You don't need any kind of visa with your itinerary because you will be perfectly eligible for visa free transit in Shanghai twice.

During your first stop in Shanghai, you will be probably eligible for 144 hour visa free transit if your entire transit time will take just a minute more than 24 hours. In case if your layover is less than 24 hours long, you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. In both of cases, you will bring an accommodation booking confirmation printout.

During your second stop in Shanghai, you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit, but assuming that you are flying on a single ticket, you will really just remain within the transit area of Shanghai airport.

Travis, I assume that you will have only Shanghai as your stop within mainland China. Am I right? I ask this because to determine your definite eligibility.
