About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Hi I have separate flights one leaving from lax to Beijing

and the other leaving from Beijing 5 days later from Beijing to Tokyo to LAX. Is this ok because I bought the tickets separately.

Yes it is because separate tickets are normally accepted, in the same way as they have been accepted from the very beginning of visa free transit program.
