About:Visa on Arrival

Travelling From Malaysia

Hello,

My partner and I are travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen and we are both holding Australia passports. Can we get the Visa on arrival from Shenzhen international airport? I’ve been reading articles that you need to come from Hong Kong to get it?

Part one:

You are advised against a try to obtain a Shenzhen VOA when you land in Shenzhen. Trust me, you will be, almost for certain denied boarding in Singapore and you will find yourself in a huge problem because you will lose your money and also all your plans will collapse. Anyway, there is a solution for that if you want. It is called 144 hour visa free transit. To be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit you have to follow the next steps:

- You can retain your ticket (maybe even a round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen)
- Before your departure, you will book also a ferry ticket from Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong Macau ferry terminal through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport company website. Please, keep in mind that departure of the ferry has to be at least 25 hours after your scheduled arrival in Shenzhen. When you book your ticket, you will receive an e-confirmation that you will print put an use as a proof that you will be really in a transit.

Part two:

- You will declare at check-in in Kuala Lumpur that you will travel to Hong Kong via Shenzhen using 144 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.
- Upon your arrival in Shenzhen, you will approach 144 hour visa free transit where you will present your tickets and shortly after that, you will get a sticker in your passport (no charge at all) and be allowed to exit the airport
- According to your schedule, you can remain for more or less days within entire Guangdong province (you are not limited as you would be with a Shenzhen VOA) and after that you will take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.
- Upon your arrival in Hong Kong, you will immediately take the first ferry and return to Shenzhen Shekou where you will obtain a Shenzhen VOA. Please, just be careful about the opening times of Shenzhen VOA at Shekou terminal: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 17:00

This is it and in my opinion the best solution because it will allow you to travel with complete peace of mind.
