About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit VISA requirement

Me & my wife will be going to New york from Delhi by China South Airlines. We will arrive Guangzou at 0730 Hrs (on 17th Oct 2019) and have flight to Wuhan at 1630 Hrs same day. Then from Wuhan we have direct flight to NYC at 2030 Hr. Im worried that will there be any harassments by the customs for not having transit visa. We have single ticket to NYC. Secondly, Whether I will receive my booked luggage ? Thank You

There will be no harassment and there is no need for that because it is China who has brought the rules about the visa free transit policy and not a single foreigner.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit, so you and your wife can travel with absolute peace of mind.

You will declare in Delhi, at check-in, that you will travel to US via China using 24 hour visa free transit. You should have the printouts of your flight tickets and they will be shortly inspected by Delhi airport authorities. Shortly after that, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Guangzhou, you will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will present your flight tickets. Again, after a short inspection, you will be granted a temporary entry permit and you will be allowed to exit the airport because your next flight will be a domestic one. Basically, after this point, there is just a formality in Wuhan where you will clear the immigration before your flight to US.

Since your flight is entirely on China Southern your luggage will be, almost for certain, tagged all the way to US. Anyway, you will know this detail at check-in in Delhi where you will ask for this detail. They will know this for certain.

Trust me, you can be relaxed because you are perfectly within the rules of visa free transit through China and you should really not think about some ugly things because they will not happen. Simply speaking, there is not a single reason for that. Instead of such thinking, you should enjoy your travel :)
