About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

We are from Melbourne Australia will go on a cruise and our last stop is Shanghai

We will stay in hotel Shanghai for 2 nights waiting for our transit flight back to Autralia
Are we entitle for 144 hour free Visa exemption or do we have to pay for Visa?

Thank you for your answer according to your advise my cruise ship and my flight back to Australia are satisfied with the requirement( there is no other port of call in mainland China and my Qantas flight direct from Shanghai to Sydney
Can you kindly tell me how and where can we apply for 144 hour free transit visa to Shanghai and can we apply online and if we can can you give us a link so we can apply prior to our trip Thank you kindly

You don't need to apply online or apply for the 144 visa.
Hereunder are the 6 steps to apply for 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit at airport:
1. Inform the carrier when boarding
2. Fill an Arrival/Departure Card
3. Apply for the 144-hour visa-free stay permit upon arrival
4. Claim the luggage
5. Go through the customs
6. Leave the airport

You are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in principle, but to be certain, here is a couple of conditions your itinerary has to fulfill:

- Your cruise is not allowed to have its last port of call, immediately before Shanghai, in mainland China
- Your flight from Shanghai to Australia is not allowed to have any additional landing of any kind within mainland China and in the country where your cruise will have its last port of call, immediately before Shanghai

If the above conditions are fulfilled, then you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area and you don't need any kind of visa.
