About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Enter China after the "beginning visa date"

Hello! I'm a Swedish citizen planning a backpacking trip in east Asia this spring. My plan is to begin my travels in Singapore and from there travel north, eventually making my way to China. It's soon time to get my Visa, but I'm wondering if, for example, the 30-day Visa allows me to enter after the "start date"? Say the Visa is valid March 15-April 15, is it ok to enter China on for example March 20? I don't want to be too bound to dates as I want to be somewhat spontaneous during my trip!
Another question; is there some way to get around the fact that you need proof of entering and exiting China for your Visa application? As I said, I want to be spontaneous! Could you for example buy a plane ticket, print out the proof and then immediately cancel the ticket? Does the printed ticket still work as proof for the Chinese embassy?
Thanks for your help!

1. A visa for China is usually valid for three months, and you are okay to enter before the deadline date shown on your visa and still stay for the whole lenth, let's say 30 days.

2. To avoid submitting round-trip tickets, you need to get an invitation letter from China, or as you said, buy a ticket and then cancel it after submitting your application.
