About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

144hr visa for Guangzhou

Hi.
I am travelling this Saturday from Ireland to Hong Kong where we are getting a connecting flight to Guangzhou. We have planned to get a train back to Hong Kong as we have accomodation booked in Hong Kong for 2 nights.
We are travelling for Canton fair but here in Ireland we cannot get a visa from the Chinese Embassy in time.
Does our route entitle us for the 144hr visa for Guangzhou?
Thanks
Siobhan

Yes, you can use 144 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province because you will arrive in Guangzhou by air. Anyway, to be eligible in your case, you are not allowed to return directly to Hong Kong, but you have to do it via Macau. To be allowed to do that, you will have to do the following:

- After your stay in Guangzhou, you will take a train or bus to Shenzhen
- You will take a ferry (a catamaran in reality) from Shenzhen Shekou port to Macau
- Upon arrival in Macau you can take immediately a ferry from Macau to Hong Kong

To be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, you will have to book your ferry tickets through TurboJet ferry website, online in advance. You will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and bring that printout with you as a proof of 144 hour visa free transit. Please, have in mind that you have to use exactly that ferry that you have bought your tickets for.
