About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

China Travel

Hi, I will be travelling to Sanya, China on Dec. With a duration of 13 days. I will be visiting my bf who is working there. I did not get a china visa as I know that Philippines passport holder can enter Hainan wo visa. But still, I am anxious about the process. I am already working with a Sanya based Travel agency and will be paying them to give me a visa waiver form. Would that suffice? Apologies for my questions. I am just worried that the immigration might tell me I cant enter China. Another question is, can I bring my bf medicine with me. He asked me to buy his medicine here in PH and bring it to him to China. But I am not sure if thats allowed. Thanks.

Part one:

Grace, if you perform your 30 day visa free access correspondence as it should be done, there is no way that you will be denied boarding the plane. The agency will send you a form that is in reality a guarantee from the Chinese authorities that you will be allowed to enter Hainan province. In other words, you really should not be in fear for this detail. You are mentioning Sanya based agency. It is fine if this agency has an authority to perform all the formalities that will lead to certain acceptance of the eligible foreigner in Hainan. Also, the agencies usually cannot ask for a money for obtaining the permit for a foreigner, but instead a foreigner pays for some of their tourist services. Most people try to limit this services to a simple airport transfer. In other words, this agency that you are talking about could tell you to pay some amount that is equivalent for some of their services and in the end you are the one who will decide whether you will use this service or not.

You should start a correspondence with one of the local Hainan travel agencies that have an English speaking staff. It is easy to find them, but here are several of them: Hainan Kangtai Travel, Hainan Haoyang International Travel Agent, China Travel International Sanyaco, Hainan Classic Holiday Travel Agent. During the correspondence, you are supposed to do the following steps:

Part two:

- You are supposed to determine how many days you will spend in Hainan province
- You should also take care of your flight tickets and here one warning... You are not allowed to arrive to Hainan by taking a flight through some other mainland Chinese airport. The best option is Hong Kong, but keep in mind that this flight has to be nonstop and not again through some of mainland Chinese airports. Also, you are not allowed to leave Hainan on a flight that has a stop in mainland China.
- After you have determined the above mentioned, you will write down your short itinerary in English language that will have most of your details that you will do while in Hainan, but very shortly.
- You will contact a relevant agency that supports a correspondence in English language, one of the above mentioned.
- Keep in mind that during your correspondence you will be offered several services and you are supposed to accept one or more of them according to your preferences. The mentioned offers range from an airport transfer to multi day trips.

Part three:

As you can see, this procedure will ensure you that you will be allowed to board the plane, to enter Hainan and to enjoy your time there without the need to obtain a visa. This procedure could appear to be somewhat complicated, but in reality it is not because the agency is doing its part very fast and everything is done within 3 or 4 working days and everything is done, the agency will send you an invitation that will undeniably allow you to enter Hainan visa free.

As far as the medicines are concerned, especially if we are talking about the medicines that are available on the prescription, then you will need a written statement from your bf doctor that she/he is sending the medicines to him. In any case, prescription medicine should be followed by some kind of document with clearly mentioned name on it and with the specification of medicines. It is not that Chinese authorities are making a lot of problems about the medicines, but when you have a document, then this will be fine because it will have its legal context.

By the way, you should know that you can enter and exit to/from Hainan only by using the flights that do not have any additional landing of any kind within mainland China!
