About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

London - Shanghai - Laos - Hanoi

Hi, i have a question regarding this

"The international flights flying in and out of China – from A to B and from B to C – should be non-stop, without a stopover anywhere in Mainland China"

I'm trying to travel to these destinations in this order, however there doesn't seem to be many flights direct from Shanghai to Laos without changing over at Kunming, does this mean i wont be able to get the 144hr visa? Also a stop over in Dubai before reaching Shanghai is OK?

Many Thanks in advance
Tu

Vietnam Airlines, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines are also possible one-stop options to explore to Laos.

Indeed, between Shanghai and Laos there is only one non-stop service, provided by Lao Airlines. In reality, if you intend to travel on the route:

London - Shanghai - Laos

Lao Airlines flight is the only one you can use and be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area. Any other option, probably cheaper via Kunming or Guangzhou would be eligible in combination with Shanghai just for 24 hour visa free transit.

Your travel from London via Dubai to Shanghai is definitely OK.

Yes, they are, but I was just focused on direct (in reality non-stop) flights between Shanghai and Laos. Of course, other options, especially those mentioned by you are great way to reach Laos and probably the cheapest one would be by Air Asia via Don Mueang airport in Bangkok :)
