About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Two stops in China - I am traveling from Auckland to Shanghai Pudong International Airport

Hi, I am traveling from Auckland to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (transit time 16h), further to Xi'an International Airport (transit time 16h) and then further to Prague (the flight is operated by China Eastern Airlines). I am coming from one of the countries that is eligible for 144 hours free transit visa in Shanghai or 72 hours free transit visa in Xi'an, however as I understand they are granted only to those passangers that have only one stop in China. Is there any way to have a free transit in both cities or do I need to apply for regular tourist visa? Thank you.

Those two stops immediately limits you to 24 hours transit without visa in China. You need a visa or different flights.
