About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Hainan visa-free access practicaly unreal to obtain?

I have been trying to find out the ticket to Sanya (Haikou) from Europe avoiding mainland China layover. But the offer is limited to flights from London and then Hongkokng. This couses the flight times are pretty inconvenient and ticket prices unacceptably high.
Is Visa-Free Access really excluded for people arrive to Hainan by taking a flight through some other mainland Chinese airport?

When you search for a flight ticket then check either Hongkong, SAR or Singapore and then for a 2nd flight ticket from either city. Do not search with Sanya or Haikou from Europe or you will get most connections via China mainland. I am now also in the process of trying to get 30 days visa free entry to Hainan and have started correspondance with one of the travel agencies. The flights are booked from Singapore to Haikou and then from Sanya to Hongkong. Hotels I have also booked and now will see how this turns out with this travel agent for the 30 days visa free option as to apply for a Chinese L Visa in Switzerland has increased from 70CHF to 188CHF which is crazy. Not sure how this will end yet :)

Yes, Hainan visa free access could be used only if you are arriving and departing from a country or eligible territory different than mainland China.

Having that in mind, beside Sanya, you have also Haikou airport to explore for ticket options. Haikou is located in the northern part of Hainan and is just a short ride by train or bus to Sanya.

In reality, it would be the best to look after Hong Kong return ticket. Here the itinerary can be routed through mainland China and you can use 24 hour visa free transit to reach Hong Kong and vice versa. After you have reached Hong Kong, your stop(s) done within China are reset and you just continue to Sanya or Haikou as you are not coming from mainland China. Just play a bit more with different option and I'm more than certain that you will find an affordable ticket. Maybe the times will be a bit less convenient, but when you have not spent too much on a flight ticket, then even this is perfectly acceptable.
