I am traveling to the Philippines and stopping in Guangzhou airport for 3 hours. Do I need a transit

Nadine, you didn't mention where do you come from to Guangzhou and that is very important detail! OK, I can just assume that you will arrive from US on non-stop flight to Guangzhou. If I'm right, you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa. You will just remain at transit area of Guangzhou airport. Of course, this is valid if you are traveling on a single (through) ticket. In case if you are traveling on separate tickets, then you will first apply for a temporary entry permit and after that collect your luggage and perform new check-in.
