About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flight from UAE to Beijing to USA

I plan to take a flight from the Emirates to Beijing (for 1-2 days) and then fly out of the same airport to the USA, utilizing a different airline for both the entrance/departure. Would I be able to utilize the 72hr Visa Free program? I hear stories where the initial flight into China won't even let you board without a visa if you did something wrong, but I'm not sure if it is true or not. Thanks.

So if separate tickets/airlines are acceptable then how would we have a hard copy of the ongoing flight if it's not for 4 days or however long? Usually you get your hard copy of the boarding pass at check in.

You don't need a boarding pass. You print out your ticket showing the long (13 digit) ticket number.

Robert, there are in reality just two things that really matter.

1. Your itinerary has to be eligible and your itinerary is just fine. Of course, I hope you have mentioned your all stops. So, this is your itinerary: UAE - Beijing - US. Please, have in mind that you should not have any additional landings within mainland China

2. Your citizenship has to be among 53 eligible countries. As I can assume, you are a US citizen and consequently, you are eligible.

To conclude, you have an eligible itinerary, your citizenship is eligible and you are completely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area. You should just have your flight tickets in hard copy and preferably a confirmation of your accommodation booking for at least the first overnight. Separate tickets and different airlines are definitely acceptable. You can really travel and enjoy the visa free policy with complete peace of mind.
