Convert my work permit to residence permit

Can I convert my work permit to a residence permit while in China? How long does it take to get a work permit after giving the company my documents?

It generally takes 7 to 15 working days to process a work permit. After getting it, you can apply for a residence permit at the local exit and entry administration in China.
