Are we eligible for the 72 hour visa-free?

Hi,
On our way back to Auckland, New Zealand from Manila, Philippines, we are stopping over in Guangzhou for a planned 3 day stay. We are arriving 0820 in Guangzhou on the 13th of Oct and leaving 0030 on the 16th to Auckland. Does the 72 hour visa-free cover this ? 4 of us are NZ citizens but 1 still has NZ Residency Visa (Indefinite). Will this be the only person who requires 72 transit visa? Is it possible to acquire this at Guangzhou airport?
Thank you kindly for any information.

The New Zealand nationals don't need a visa. If the other passenger's nationality is not on the list of 53 countries, then he/she must get a visa in advance or take different flights. Residency is irrelevant. You cannot get a visa at the airport.
