About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

China Southern Airlines has 2 stops in China en route Kuala Lumpur - Do I need a visa?

Hi

I am travelling from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to New York. My departing flight is KL - CAN - NYC which i understand no visa is required.

However, my returning flight is NYC - WUHAN - GUANGZHOU - KUALA LUMPUR. I have 2 connecting flights in Wuhan and Guangzhou. We won't be exiting any of the airport. Total time spent in China upon arriving in Wuhan is 6 hours 25 minutes before we board our flight in Guangzhou back to Kuala Lumpur.

I just want to be absolutely sure, so i am posting this question here - Would I need a visa for my interstate/intercity flight from Wuhan to Guangzhou?

06:20+1 Wuhan Tianhe International Airport WUH
1 h 40 m layover Wuhan WUH

You don't need a visa because the time from 0620 to 1245 is less than 24 hours.

Hi,

My aunt who was supposed to leave to NYC today was also travelling on the same itinerary for her return flight. However, when she arrived at the airport earlier, she had a shock when she was denied boarding because she didn't have a Chinese visa for her interstate/intercity flight. She had to re-book her flight to a single-stop via China. Also, I just found this information on trip advisor where the traveler (from Malaysia) had the same problem on China Southern Airline with 2 stops in Guangzhou and Wuhan, and had to re-book her flight.

I guess we need a visa even for such case.
