Do we need a tourist visa?

Two days in Shanghai. Cruise to Japan, back to Shanghai port then flight to Hong Kong.

Ruth, so your route goes like this: UK - Shanghai - Japan - Shanghai - Hong Kong? If no other stopovers are made, you are eligible for the 144h visa-free transit in Shanghai twice so visa is not required.
