Seafarer join a ship in Zhoushan

I am seafarer, Croatian citizen and I joining ship in Zhoushan Oct 06 2019.Arrival airport is Shangai and than local flight to Zhoushan where I will embark ship immediately. I found on your site that 72 hours Visa free applying for my country. Do I need to apply for visa or not. Thanks

Unfortunately, the crew members are not eligible for any kind of visa free transit schemes. The reason is simple. Visa free transit requires that you proceed, after your arrival in China, on a scheduled passenger ship as a passenger to a third country and also the port from where you will depart has to be eligible visa free transit port and Zhoushan does not belong among them. Eligible ports in Shanghai area are: Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal and Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal. To conclude, you have to obtain a C (crew) visa in advance at Chinese embassy in Zagreb.
