About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify

I have American passport arriving from Bangkok arriving Beijing at 5:20 am on 12/7/2019 and departing Beijing 12/8 at 1:20 am. Because I am coming from Thailand am I eligible for this 24 hour visa free?

If those are your only stops, you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit in Beijing under the condition that your onward flight is to some third country or eligible territory. The fact that you are arriving from Thailand is perfectly OK.
