Visiting Taiwan from China and then returning to China

We are visiting our son in Shanghai for 2 weeks. During that time we shall fly to Taiwan for 5 days and then return to Shanghai before returning to the UK. We have applied for a China multi entry visa. In the letter of invitation do we need to set out the dates we shall be leaving for and returning from Taiwan. Thank you.

Yes, you need.

By the way, I actually think you only need a single entry, because for your returning trip, you seem to be eligible for the 144h visa-free transit. However, taking consideration that UK national need to pay the same depsite the number of entries, you can still apply for a multiple entry visa.
