Visa for stopping twice in China in transit?

I am a US pp holder and fly from San Fran to Guangzhou, but the plane stops in Wuhan on the way, although we don't get off the plane. From Guangzhou I will fly directly to Denpasar Bali within a few hours. Please could you advise if I need a Chinese visa due to the two stops and if so what type of visa?

If the total time you will spend in China adds up to not more than 24 hours, you don't need a visa.
