British citizen trying to get chinese visa in Kathmandu

Hi,

we're going to be traveling nepal and are eager to head into china following this.

so we need to apply for the L visa but worried we can only get this through our home nation.

or can british citizens get a chinese L type visa for a tourists month from kathmandu?
