About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

what if

I have a ticket Paris-Tokyo and my return is Beijing-Paris. I plan to take a single ticket Tokyo-Beijing and will stay in Beijing for 3 days. Am I eligible then?

Yes, your itinerary:

Tokyo - Beijing - Paris

If you don't have any other stops is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area. Separate or single tickets are definitely fine.
