Do we need visas twice?

We (U.S. citizens) are going to stay in Shanghai for 3 days before our cruise to Japan for 7 nights. After our cruise, our ship will be back in Shanghai, we will go directly to Shanghai Pudong airport for our flight to the Philippines. Do we need to get visa twice.

Rosana, in your case, it's possible that you even won't need a visa. Just check your cruise route and see if you are fine with the 144h or 24h visa-free transit in Shanghai for the round trip.
