About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

21 Hour Layover

My return flight back from Vietnam to New York has a 21 hour layover in Beijing. Would this qualify for the 72-Hour Visa Free transit? I would like to be able to see a bit of Beijing if I'm going to have such a long layover.

Cheers

Phil, your itinerary will be definitely covered by 24 hour visa free transit. Anyway, to be allowed to exit the airport and explore the city, you will have to apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Beijing. Having in mind the length of your layover, I suggest you to book your accommodation in advance and to have a confirmation with you in hard copy. During your application, you will present this confirmation and your chances to be granted an entry permit are practically certain.
