About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

Is it ok to travel from/to Hainan with a single entry visa?

Hey,

Maybe my question is stupid.. I'm currently in Shanghai with a X2 visa (One entry only), and I was wondering whether I could go to Hainan for a few days and come back to Shanghai with a single entry visa. I guess I can because Hainan is just a province of China, but I'd rather ask as it seems that they have different visa policies.

There are no stupid questions :)

The answer is very simple. When you are already in China, it is perfectly the same whether you will travel from Shanghai to Beijing and back or from Shanghai to Hainan and back. The rules are perfectly the same and both of the mentioned itineraries are considered purely domestic. You will not loose your entry and you will be able to perfectly return to the rest of mainland China. The real difference regarding the Hainan visa policy is for the travelers who intend to travel to Hainan from some other country. Your travel is, again, purely domestic. Like between Paris and Lyon :)
