About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Transit visa

Hi,

I'm traveling from Helsinki - Shanghai - Bangkok and just staying 15 hours in Shanghai.

Later I'm flying from Bangkok to Shanghai and stay there 4 days before I'm flying back to Helsinki.

I'm a Finnish citizen so do I meet the requirements of the free transit Visa? Is Finland counted as a third country?

Your entire itinerary is definitely eligible for visa free transit in Shanghai twice.

During your first arrival, you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. Since you will have 15 hours of layover, you can apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Shanghai to be allowed to exit the airport and if the mentioned 15 hours are during the night time, you should book your accommodation in advance and bring your booking confirmation in hard copy to increase your chances in obtaining the entry permit. You should also bring your flight tickets in hard copy too.

During your second arrival in Shanghai, you will enjoy 144 hour visa free transit.

One detail more... Your itinerary is not allowed to have any additional landings of any kind, especially not within mainland China.
