About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

China Visa for layover a little beyond 24 hours

If I do not leave the airport area and lets say I dont have any luggage to collect then do I still need the 24 hour visa thing? On my way the connection time is 24 hours 15 minutes (Landing at 5.10 pm in Shanghai, leaving Kuming at 5.15 the next day but I was wondering if I could stay back in all the airports and be fine?

The time is calculated on scheduled arrival to scheduled departure. You would face an immigration inspection at Shanghai and continue as a domestic passenger. But you won't get as far as Shanghai because you'll be denied boarding at your origin. You must get a visa or change your flights.
