祥祥, to be able to properly answer to your question, we need to know your itinerary. Anyway, I will assume that you are traveling on eligible itinerary, so if this is a case, you will have to do the following:

- You will have to print out your flight tickets and have them in hard copy with you, ready to be presented to the relevant authorities.
- You will declare at check-in in the country from where you will fly to Shanghai that you will travel to the country X (different from your origin country and from mainland China) via Shanghai using 144 hour visa free transit (72 hour TWOV was replaced with 144 hour TWOV a couple of years ago)
- After your arrival in Shanghai, you will approach to 144 hour counter where you will fill out a blue form. You will hand it over to the relevant authorities along with your onward flight ticket
- After a short inspection, you will get a sticker in your passport and will be allowed to exit the airport

Basically, this is it in short presentation.
