About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Travelling from Hong Kong then returning to Australia with a transit in Hong Kong

Hi,

I was wondering if i can use the 144 Hr visa free transit if I travel as per the below
Trip 1: Hong Kong - Guangzhou
Trip 2: Guangzhou - Sydney (but this flight transits through Hong kong)

Would my trip 2 flight which transits in Hong kong be seen as a return flight to/from Hong Kong because my my trip 1 originated from Hong Kong?

Hong Kong-Guangzhou-Hong Kong requires a visa because it’s not a transit. You might be able to try Macao-Guangzhou-Hong Kong which would work.

In my opinion, the best solution is a single entry Chinese (L) tourist visa because all other options would require too many complications to be considered feasible.
