Looking for opera performance of Shanghai Yifu Theater in October.

You can expect:
10.12: Farewell My Concubine
10.13: Wohugou
10.19: Yang's Female Warrior
10.20: Daokuyin
And they are all Beijing Opera.

Beware that the theater at the address listed above, No. 701, Fuzhou Road, is being refurbished so today's performance was at another theater (the Majestic) and I assume that will be the case for a while. It was great seeing the opera, the only disappointing thing was that the actors were miked and the highest sung notes were distorted because the sound engineering was not up to par. Hopefully that was just today. I would have loved to hear it unmiked, but maybe that is not feasible in the current space (or maybe they have gone away from it). Like Western opera, the sound is best when the singing is unmiked, but that requires a hall that is built for it and singers that can fill the hall with their sound.
