About:China Student Visa

x1 multiple entry already in china, residence permit expired

the school won't accept me or allow me to apply for a new residence permit, since it expired a month ago and i foolishly didn't reapply before i left the country. since my x1 is valid, should i be able to apply for another residence permit, would it be legal? the school says my visa expired (in reality, it's the residence permit) a month ago and therefore is invalid.

The university is right. You X1 visa has already expired after you leave China. And beauces you didn't renew residence pemit before you leave, you can't enter again. You should reapply for a Xi visa.
